(1) The main parameters of the press must be determined based on the enterprise's primary product focus. Production lines dedicated to thin boards require shorter press lengths and faster production speeds, whereas presses primarily producing medium-to-thick boards require greater lengths and operate at relatively lower speeds; it is unrealistic to expect a single press to deliver optimal efficiency across the entire thickness range of 2–35 mm. The press width should be selected from the 4-foot to 9-foot range, depending on product specification requirements.

(2) The design of the inlet platen on a continuous flat press is critical. Although the mat has been compacted by a pre-press, air remains within it; as the mat enters the main press, air must be vented without causing "blowouts" on the bottom surface—which could result in small fiber clumps falling onto the steel belt—necessitating a specialized inlet platen structure. Both imported and domestically manufactured presses employ proprietary technologies to address this issue. (4) The structural design of the chains, roller rods, and locking pins is critical; components must be reliable in operation while allowing for easy disassembly and replacement. Cleaning and lubrication systems directly impact the service life of the roller rods and locking pins. (5) The hydraulic cylinder system can utilize either a proportional valve system or an on/off valve system, each with its own distinct advantages; typically, a proportional valve system is employed for the high-pressure stage, while on/off valve systems are used for other zones.
